Arnhem Land was created as an Aboriginal Reserve in 1931 with the intention that the Aboriginal people have an opportunity to continue their traditional way of life. The outstanding body of rock art around the Arnhem Land Escarpment documents its creators spiritual beliefs and daily traditions, it’s a real feast for the senses , climbing into galleries where the walls and ceiling are ablaze with ochre layers of painted images. Injalak Hill is documented as having some of the finest rock art in Australia, it is easily to view this on a Lords tour and a traditional Aboriginal guide will walk you around the galleries. Davidsons Arnhemland Safaris also has amazing rock art at Mt Borradaile.
